Founded in 1999, under the name APX Alarm, this security company was renamed Vivint in 2011. A combination of the words 'vive' (meaning to live) and 'intelligent,' the Vivint name represents the company's goal: to help homeowners live intelligently by giving them simple technology for a smarter life.

Over the last 15 years, Vivint has grown from a small startup into one of the largest smart home technology providers in North America.
